Let’s take a great, trashy premise like Single White Female; cast two attractive actresses; move it to college, where too-strong emotional attachments are a matter of course… then strip it of interesting characters, a script, or the exploitation pleasures of sex and violence (thanks, PG-13!). Welcome to The Roommate. Meanwhile Elliott explains the avant garde use of collage in softcore films, Stuart is utterly baffled by the idea of a pet detective, and Dan reassures his fans that he will always be the sigh guy they know and tolerate.
0:00 – 0:41 – Introduction and theme.
0:42 – 8:29 – Stuart helps Dan deliver some big news by setting up a bit at length and then seeming totally uninterested in the payoff.
8:30 – 29:35 – We seem to have less to say about The Roommate than any prior film.
29:36 – 35:22 – Final judgments.
35:23 – 54:01 – Flop House Movie Mailbag
54:02 – 58:40 – The sad bastards recommend

Congrats, Dan!
Congratulations, Dan! (I couldn’t use “Congrats” because the DSC did). As someone currently residing in Minnesota, I hope that while you may not one hundred up Elliot’s fistbumping the President, that perhaps you can at least grope Tim Pawlenty at some point during his campaign, backstage at The Daily Show.
Oh, and “I’d like to see the penises you’re looking at”…really, Stu?
Oh man. Both congrats and congratulations are taken… Gesundheit?
I think there was a twist ending edited out – the man who died choking while thinking about a spellcasting Brat was Tina’s father in Friday the 13th Part 7: New Blood.
I see Elliot had to keep the one-upmanship going on Tuesday’s Daily Show by unleashing his killer Alexander Graham Bell impression.
Good job, Elliot. All those years at AGB College did not go to waste.
You made it to Podmass on the A.V. Club! Must be that extra Daily Show star power.
Very belated congrats as I’m slowly making my way through your back issues.
Just one remark though: could you invite Stuart up on stage for your next Emmy win or are below-theatre staff not allowed in?
