Not to be one of the geek jerks, but Renny Harlin’s Mindhunters did get a theatrical release. I know because I saw it in a theater on opening day. There were about 3 of us in the theater. It was in May 2006 or maybe even 2005.
But Stuart’s right: Mindhunters is ridiculously awesome. People are frozen and shattered, hung up like puppets, and even blown up by tainted cigarettes. Also, Harlin gives already twitchy character actor Clifton Collins Jr a physical handicap, allowing him to reach Vincent D’nofrio heights of scenery chewing.
And Renny did go straight to DVD with his next film, The Cleaner.
Keep up the great podcasts. I enjoy running to them.
Did we say that Mindhunters went directly to DVD? If we did, I blame Stuart, since I was certainly familiar with it as an actual release.
I’m glad you enjoyed Mindhunters. A wonderful, terrible Harlin film. On the other hand, The Coven was just a dull, terrible Harlin film.
