Almost had a heart attack when I read “no show […] this week” There was an episode where Elliot said something along the lines of “If you need something to kill time in your slow agonizing life…” And that’s what this podcast provides on my Saturday work shift
Very classily done.
Great episode, Peaches. Thanks for unearthing this gem for all the Floppers.
And Dan, you’re the best!
For the love of Cage, somebody please put this movie online! I’d order the DVD, but per Dan’s experience, I’d rather not throw my money away. Help a flopper out, people.
Its on youtube
Dan, I’m so sorry. Really. This podcast HAS gotten me through tough times, so thank.
Since you were in a relationship when you started writing at The Daily Show, you may not realize that being a writer at The Daily Show is about the best job you could possibly have to…impress the young woman out there. When you’re ready. When you’re ready.
You guys are great. Elliot’s inability to keep his judgment a secret before even discussing the movie was great. I will also second, third, fourth that this podcast has gotten me through some really rough times. Thanks for flopping!
Great episode, guys!
This movie is a good example of a low budget film-maker writing a script which incorporates various interesting props and locations he has access to in his daily life; things that can be used to add extra production value to the project.
Got access to a red Ferrari that the owner won’t let you drive but will let you film while it’s parked in your garage?
Got three broken laptops that you can drop on the floor and spill coffee over?
Got a hot, masculine body that you’re more than happy to show off, since your female cast members are not so willing to get naked?
Just use whatever you’ve got access to, and put it up there on the screen. It all adds to that mysterious and highly valuable film-making quality known as ‘production values.’
A classic flopisode. This movie is like watching cut-scenes from a fifteen-year-old adventure game: very little animation in the characters faces, sparse backgrounds, and weak voice-acting.
Long time listener, first time poster. I want to share the same sentiment as Ufotofu9. This podcast has helped me get through some really tough times. My grandfather passed away last year and the podcast provided me with great comfort in a time of such sadness.
My thoughts are with you Dan and I wish you the best as you move into the next chapter of your journey. I have no doubt that you have many amazing things on the horizon. All us floppers are rootin for you mate!
Aw Dan. Sorry to hear it. I hope all goes smoothly and life gets easier for you soon.
Just wanted to say that I only started listening to The Flop House a few months ago, and even in that short amount of time it’s helped me get through some rough patches. So, hang in there, Dan! You’re an awesome, dude.
The most important question raised by this episode is: Where the hell can I get a copy of this movie? It’s been on my to-watch list for two years, but I’m leery of shelling out $25 U.S. for a DVD that may never arrive… Although by the sound of it it’s worth the risk.
Soooo… Dan’s available again, huh?
I found it on youtube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWy5UYTnb4w I’m only half way through but it’s hilarious.
Thanks for this link. I watched the whole thing, and I still can’t believe what I just saw. Even listening to this podcast did not prepare me for it. It’s magical.
Love you Dan!
It’s a magical day.
Neil “LL” Breen. It stands for Ladies Lightly Peck Cool Breen.
Not many people know this, but Christopher Plummer is the third Mario Brother. Mario, Luigi, and Christopher.
Sorry to hear the news Dan! We love yous guys.
NO MORE SHOWNOTES!!!!
Hey floppers! Wonderful episode, can’t wait to watch this movie!
Also, wanted to say, Dan, you’re a peach, and I’m sorry things are rough right now, but I’m glad you’re still floppin’, and I’m sure your Unholy Trio can endure anything, up to and including the heat death of the universe.
We watched the movie after buying it on amazon prime for $0.00.
It’s rough.
I’m a particular fan of the medical devices at the start where the oxygen mask and nose hoses are on the outside of the massive bandages on the guys face.
I need some help. In a recent episode, Elliott thanks a listener for recommending something he is enjoying. I want to say it’s another podcast. It’s got a 1 word title or a very short title. I thought this incident was in this episode or Fateful Findings. I re-listened to both and didn’t hear it. Anyone remember what it was he was talking about?
Correction to above: I thought the reference was in this episode or Unfriended.
Dear Floppers, you got me through night time field work, grubbing around in orchards at 2am by myself. Would’ve been both boring and a little bit scary without The Flophouse. You guys were great company!
Can we all chip in and buy Neil Breen a working laptop?
Not if he’s just going whip encyclopedias at them and leave then all precariously hanging off the edge of his desk.
News to all floppers. Neil Breen’s Fateful Findings is on the Filmrise streaming channel on Roku. Yes, the same company that produces Forensic Files has a streaming channel. It is magical.
